California Desert
The desert has a way of removing everything that is not essential. There is no noise, no excess, no distraction.
And yet, there is.
But it is a different kind of sound, a different kind of distraction. The sky slowly changing colors, the plants, the texture of the rocks, the quiet movement of the surroundings.
Walking through it mindfully helps you become present.
Whatever process you are going through, it begins within. You need a strong structure inside, a sense of grounding, so that whatever you do can take shape with clarity.
Often, that structure is found by reconnecting with nature. In this case, the desert, and its quiet form of magic.
It is here that you begin to notice how used you are to constant movement, to filling every moment.
But slowly, something begins to soften.
The pace changes. Your breath deepens. Your thoughts become less urgent. You are no longer trying to keep up with anything.
It becomes a place to reset, to reconnect with yourself. To lower the volume of everything that usually surrounds you.
There is a kind of clarity that comes from this simplicity. Without distraction, you begin to notice what is there, and what is no longer needed.
The desert does not give you anything new. It simply allows you to return to what was already there.
A transformation that does not happen outside, but within.
A place to reset, to reconnect with yourself, and lower the volume of everything around you.
